About the International Union: The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) represents a growing force of over 160,000 active and retired men and women in the United States and Canada. Their members work in the finishing trades as industrial and commercial painters, drywall finishers, wall coverers, glaziers, glass workers, floor covering installers, sign makers, display workers, convention and show decorators and in many more exciting occupations. IUPAT members’ skills are in high demand at every construction project in North America.
About the District Council: Members of District Council 16 Painters and Allied Trades of Northern California and Northern Nevada are painters, drywall finishers, floor coverers, glaziers, DC-16 administrative professionals, production workers and many other specialties, such as special coatings, industrial, caulking, window film, paintmakers, etc. District Council 16 and their members, in partnership with their signatory contractors, strive to deliver a “High Performance /High Value” finished product to their clients.

Training Center: Working in the finishing trades means that your work must be precise, so the training that the IUPAT provides will prepare you for this high-demand skill. The apprenticeship programs is meant for a person to learn a set of skills and craftsmanship that will help them command a better than average wage. Since it was created, over 20,000 apprentices have graduated through the apprentice programs to become successful journeymen. Currently, the District Council 16 Apprenticeship Program has three training facilities in San Leandro, Calif., West Sacramento, Calif. and Reno, Nev.
