About the International Union: The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers is a diverse union representing workers throughout the United States and Canada in industrial construction, repair, and maintenance; manufacturing; shipbuilding and marine repair; railroads; mining and quarrying; cement kilns; and related industries. Many members work in boiler construction and repair, while others are skilled blacksmiths, forgers, ship builders, cement workers, stove workers, metal polishers, or have numerous other skills.

About the Local Union: Local 549 is headquartered in Pittsburg, California.

About the JATC: The Boilermakers Western States Joint Apprenticeship Program trains apprentice boilermakers in 13 states. Training with WSJAP allows men and women to learn the skills needed to be successful at no cost to the apprentices. WSJAP apprentices work on a variety of different projects throughout the region, which requires apprentices to have a very broad knowledge of the trade.
