About the union: The International Union of Elevator Constructors represents roughly 25,000 members throughout North America. Considered to be one of the most dangerous trades, elevator constructors build, maintain and repair elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, stage lifts, moving walks, wheelchair lifts and other vertical transportation equipment.
About the Local: International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 8 serves the areas of Northern California and Nevada. Local 8 strives to protect the rights of workers such as a fair wage, great benefits and a retirement plan.
About the JATC: Elevator Constructors are impacted by new technology more than any other in the building trades. Local 8 apprentices receive both classroom instruction, including OSHA certifications, and on-the-job training with highly skilled journeymen. This helps them to gain vital knowledge to ensure they do the job correctly and safely.
