About the International Union: Organized in 1864, the Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ International Association has represented and trained plasterers and cement masons for the purpose of protecting and promoting the quality of their industry and the livelihood of their members. Plaster and concrete are ageless building materials that will not fall out of favor as long as there is a sufficient amount of workers who are skilled in the arts of installation and finishing. The OPCMIA is dedication to the promotion of these materials, the recruitment and training of skilled craftsmen to meet the demand of our industry, and hold themselves responsible to this commitment for the future of their industry and the welfare of all those who earn their living in it.
About the Local Union: Cement Masons Local 400 members are highly skilled and well trained. They work to be as efficient as possible, while still maintaining the high quality work that is expected by project owners. Local 400 serves the areas of Sacramento, San Jose, Vallejo, Stockton, Chico and Redding California.
About the JATC: Classes combine both classroom and on-the-job training to ensure apprentices are knowledgeable in the cement masonry craft. The Northern California Cement Masons JATC works with two local unions, Cement Masons Union Local 400 and Plasterers and Cement Masons Union Local 300. THE NCCM JATC has a diverse staff of qualified journeypersons to train apprentices. The JATC also offers journeymen advancement courses so journeymen can stay up-to-date as new materials and techniques are developed.
