About the International Union: The International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers represents tradesmen and women throughout the United States and Canada. Today’s union insulators are skilled in the installation of mechanical insulation, firestopping, asbestos and lead mitigation or abatement, sound attenuation and specialty fabrications required in custom mechanical insulation installations for commercial, industrial, medical, bio-technical, governmental and educational facilities among other customer types. By providing a livable wage and great benefits, the Insulators have continued to be one of the premier construction trades.
About the Local Union: Insulators Local 16 covers territory in Northern California and Northwestern Nevada, representing over 1,000 members. Through on-the-job training combined with classroom instruction, The skilled trades workers of Local 16 have established themselves as leaders in creating a safer, greener and more efficient world. Apprentices and journey workers are provided with training update courses so that they can learn about all of the new techniques and materials that this ever changing industry takes on.
About the JATC: Insulators Local 16 offers various levels of courses for both apprentices and journeymen insulators. Classroom sessions as well as hands-on training taught by local journeymen ensure that material is relevant and up-to-date.
